Title: Song of the Ferry Battalion

Melody: Fritz Kapplusch

Lyrics: First Lieutenant Boosmann

Slogan: "The sun does not set for us!"

First Verse

We are of the Ferry Battalion

And sail crisscross everywhere

We do not ask for reward,

Even if the work is hard.

Refrain

For life loves laughter,

And we sail without guards,

With the Ferry Battalion.

Second Verse

A colorful bunch are we here

On our ferry boat:

Sailors, Airmen, Pioneers,

The Flak of grit and grain!

Also the radio troop and assault boat platoon

Are with us day and night.

We have dash and courage enough

And keep faithful watch.

(Refrain)

Third Verse

Often we have slaved away, it is true,

From morning early until late.

But all ferries were made ready

And our flag waves.

We have loaded on many a day

Much iron and much wood.

Whatever the ferry can hold.

And the Major is proud.

(Refrain)

Fourth Verse

We have a table and beds here.

Nor is there missing, even at sea,

The kitchen, stove, and cookware,

Next to it a W.C.

And when the work is then over,

The ferryman goes ashore,

And if you have an hour free,

Watch out for..., sunburn.

(Refrain)

Fifth Verse

Whether sea voyage or bridge building,

The Flak stands his ground

And hits the bomber exactly,

So that he can do nothing to us!

And when we go out of the harbor,

Just have courage, my dear son,

With full steam then sails out

The Ferry Battalion.

(Refrain)

German Lyrics

Titel:  Lied vom Fähren-Bataillon

Melodie: Fritz Kapplusch

Text: Oberlt. Boosmann

Wahlspruch: "Uns geht die Sonne nicht unter!

1. Strophe

Wir sind vom Fähren-Bataillon

Und fahren kreuz und quer.

Wir fragen nicht nach Lohn,

Und fällt die Arbeit schwer.

Refrain

Denn das Leben liebt das Lachen,

Und wir fahren ohne Wachen

Mit dem Fähren-Bataillon.

2. Strophe

Ein bunter Haufen sind wir hier

Auf unserem Fähren-Boot:Matrosen, Flieger, Pionier,

Die Flak von Korn und Schrot!

Auch Funkertrupp und Sturmbootzug

Sind bei uns Tag und Nacht.

Wir haben Schneid und Mut genug

Und halten treue Wacht.

(Refrain)

3. Strophe

Oft haben wir geschuftet zwar

Von morgens früh bis spät.

Doch wurden alle Fähren klar

Und unsere Flagge weht.

Verladen hat man manchen Tag

Viel Eisen und viel Holz.

Was nur die Fähre fassen mag.

Und der Major ist stolz.

(Refrain)

4. Strophe

Wir haben Tisch und Betten hier.

Es fehlt auch nicht auf See

Die Küche, Herd und Kochgeschirr,

Daneben ein W.C.

Und ist die Arbeit dann vorbei,

Der Fährmann geht an Land,

Und hast Du eine Stunde frei,

Hüt Dich vor..., Sonnenbrand.

(Refrain)

5. Strophe

Ob Seefahrt oder Brückenbau,

Die Flak steht ihren Mann

Und trifft den Bomber haargenau,

Daß er uns garnichts kann!

Und geht es dann zum Hafen raus,

Nur Mut, mein lieber Sohn,

Mit Volldampf segelt dann hinaus

Das Fähren-Bataillon.

(Refrain)
